st170 cam belt tension.

Does any one know how to tension a cam belt on a st170 engine i have tried to tension it up but when tensioner bolt up it still has a sprung movement is this right and arrow thingy moves i am only used to silver top engines that have a different set up any help would be apreciated thanks.

You position the ponter in the centre of the square window, then nip the pivot bolt up. Turn the engine over a couple of times, then recheck the pointer, if still in the middle of the suare window, torque up the pivot, if not repeat, job jobbed.

Sorry forgot to mention you use an allen key to turn the tensioner to move the pointer.

Thanks for that help i wasnt sure if it was right it seemed floppy to me.
