How tall is your roll bar & how tall are you?
Now i know i sit in the car and lay a flat piece of wood so that it clears my helmet by 2" ..... but every time I try it i get a different
measurement + having mocked up the roll bar in wood ............ i'm not sure it looks right. It probably doesn't help that i don't
have a proper seat yet.
So, how tall from the top chassis rail is your roll bar & how tall are you?

I think I did mine 75mm over a helmet
its 500mm tall and I am 6'3"

I'm 6'5" and have a seat with runners and with a helmet on I measured with a bit of string from my vernier pulley above my head with
2" above my helmet for slack in my harness and thats what determined the height of my roll bar, although everybody takes the pi55 out of it

Can't duck in harnesses when inverted, and there's no point having a roll bar if it doesn't work (just extra weight in that
case).
Can't really tell from your height how high it needs to be, even if you know the seat height because height can be in your legs or in your
body.
All you can do is mock it up and err on the high side, though a single braced hoop does look visually daft if designed for the extremely lanky.

If your car turns over it will not remain horizontal.
I would suggest that you draw aline from the top of the roll bar to the front top of engine. Does your head remain within this space. Also as already
mentioned, your harnesses will stretch. Also how disciplined are you? in terms of always making sure that the harnesses are correctly adjusted for
you, and your passenger.
Also, can you define what you mean by a roll bar. Do you mean a hoop, or a hoop with bracing.
If your car rolls over, the car will not be stationary, it will have forward/backward motion. What will prevent a hoop (without bracing) from folding
flat (therefore what is the point of having it in the first place?).
My opinion only, but hopefully something to think about.

I'd placed a long bit of wood from the very front steel structure of the car (ie not the nose - the metal under the nose) to above my head.
the problem is i don't have a seat at the moment. I keep moving and the height i require keeps changing. I was hoping to get some other peoples
set ups.
I also need to sit in some peoples cars - my steering wheel feels a long way away.
(no - i've not had a good garage day)

I'm 6'-0" and the top of the main hoop is 41" above ground.
Don't forget that a lot depends on how reclined the seat is. That alone can make 12" of vertical height difference!

In my westy, the roll bar is at just the right height to be not enough in the event of going topsy turvy. Handy.
