After MotaLeira.....what next?
Now the MotaLeira is built, my mind is wandering towards another build.
I have a few ideas, but whatever it is, it will probably be busa, possibly turbo.
The main thing is that I have a "wet" car..........something that I can use on rainy days too.
My skills in bodywork are ok but I find it laborious making moulds etc so this will not be a quick project.
To keep the car light I am considering canopy type screens, possibly from gliders, but I am finding them difficult to source. Any ideas where to get
them?
Anyway, don't hold your breath on this one as I'm just at the ideas stage for now.

These people will be able to get you a canopy, not sure it would be what you
need though, as wipers would be difficult to fix....

A well deserved break.... but on second thoughts maybe not.... how else are the rest of us to keep ourselves occupied other than to follow all the
twists and turns of your build?

There are other ways to shift water other than wipers.
Ships and Go-karters use a spinning disc to throw the water off.

I'd be looking at re-engineering an existing body shell if I was you. Getting a new body shape right / then form the buck / then make the
moulds / then take the panels sounds like an awful lot of work. (Hats off to the lads on here who are / have managed it!)
There was someone on here fitting an Elan bodyshell to an Indy chassis.
So think fibreglass bodywork / with a spaceframe chassis and busa turbo power. Early TVR / Lotus / etc?

Having spent a few years at sea, most ships have gone back to wipers as the spinning disk things (usually a wiper which just goes round and round
rather than back and forth) are a bit rubbish! How about some high pressure air blowing the rain away??? Bit like a Dyson hand dryer....

If you want a canopy like used in gliders but need a flat laminated section in it for the SVA and wipers, then why not modify a glider one as they
were on the mustangs. Also look up blowing canopy’s you'll see it’s actually a doddle to do, requiring little in the way of equipment and no
mold is needed either except the window frame
or even the little bubble cars had a version if not very good looking...

The trouble with wipers on acryilic is scratching, but the possibilty of a flat section of glass is interesting, although a bit ugly.
What do gliders do in the rain?
There is always IVA without a screen.
For a wider car, there is always an Ultima windscreen, but how much!!!!!!

How about the 'stealth' look? Lots of flat panels for the body - easier to fabricate?

The design of the Motaleira with an R1 plus extra panel weight, would spoil it.
A new design where the body forms part of the strength of the overall chassis would mean lighter chassis and still low power to weight.
Also a busa would mean re-designing the Motaleira rear chassis.
I'd rather have a car to play with while I am creating the other.
I did the same when I had the F1-2 and built the MotaLeira.
