I think it is best not to use any Avatar. It may offend someone in some way?

Only if you take offence at a friendly suggestion from someone trying to save you being contacted by the moderators.

I use free download Irfanview. It does a lot more than just re-size.

Ive just resized mine. Forgot how simple it was.
Found pic in photo archive. Right click and saved it to my c drive.
Opened up pic. Resized it to 150 x 150. Saved as new name.
Uploaded pic back into archive.
Opened the pic from photo archive. The name appears under it. I highlighted everything within the [img] bits (ie from http://......to...... .jpg)
Opened up control panel and pasted the link in the avatar location.
Lets hope everyone else resizes theres now to at least show some sort of conformance to site rules. im going to clean out old un-needed pics now from
the archive (old for sale items etc). Every little helps to keep the site manageable.
