Injection or Carbs
After driving a 1.8 Zetec Focus (t Reg) got me thinking my Indy doen;t pull that well on Bike carbs....
so what is best for a quick car on a budget for road use with ocassional track.
Currently car is

Stock 1.8 Zetec with GSXR750 Carbs and MegaJolt

hmm, i'd be thinking about rolling roading it if you haven't already. no reason why it shouldn't pull as well as a standard focus

Bike ITBs and Megasquirt. Been done a thousand times, so lots on info out there.... I wouldn't think it would make as big a difference as
possibly you are hoping for. Have you had your current setup properly sorted?

For a budget job I just fit a stock setup of a scrap car, if you can squeeze it all in

this is a good setup to have, i've got it and even the BEC owner i went out with the other day was surprised how well i was keeping up!
other options
1) stick a turbo on it
2) put 2.0 zetec cams and then go Bike ITB's & Megasquirt!

Bike ITB's, wish I'd done it from the outset rather than spending a fortune on Boggs and bike carbs.....
Its not as complicated as it first looked.

(assuming silvertop?) one thing you dont say is what cams you are running? if standard 1800 zetec may only be putting out 115bhp, first thing i would
do may be a basic Rolling road run to check whats it putting out which is about £45, then (if not fitted) fit 130BHP cams from 1800RS fiesta or 130
Mondeo then with bike carbs should be about 140bhp ish if set up right on bike carbs

im running a stock 1.8 from a mondeo with 2litre cams and twin 40's it pulls well enough an ST170 couldnt lose me up to 90 we then both backed
off. Sounds to me like its not set up properley.check the timing and take at for a blast then check the colour of the plugs to see how the mixture is

No disrespect, but if your 600ish KG indy isnt pulling as well as a 1.8 focus then there's something seriously amiss.
Likewise, an ST 170 shouldnt be challenging any of the cars on here either??
Our pinto powered car (110@ wheels) will easily see off the above. I'd expect any 7 with a zetec and bike carbs to be quicker than ours.

Bike ITB's with megasquirt. Simple and cheap.
If you dont want the hassle of setting it up yourself you can always pay £1200 for a complete set up from one of the many companies offering bolt on
throttle body injection systems.
You will get better flexibility and economy with fuel injection too without losing any performance.
