Bec engine RF900 / GSXR1100W clearout

Have posted this before

Old Post LINKY

Last chance before they go on ebay.

Don't under estimate this engine even though the bike wasn't popular.
In it's day was a Blade beater in a straight line.

Any one looking for GSXR1100W spares the bottom half has a lot of parts in common.

Looking for offers around £375
which is a Bargain for 2 running engines and some stainless headers.

Includes a home made billet clutch slave.

Hey there Martin,

If you are going to split this then how would you do it?

I.e.
1) Working 96 engine with Carbs
2) BEC RF900/GSXR1100 conversion package (pipes and clutch cylinder)
3) 94 Engine with dodgy 2nd
4) Carbs

I think you should get more than £375 if you split that way.

I'd be interested in (3) for spares and maybe try a head swap. I can't really justify the expense, but I do suffer from e-bay fever, so do post the item numbers.

If I had thge time I would put the good gearbox in the '94 engine.
Then would be good for a Pre-Cat setup, Although it's 2ng gear only jumps under hard acceleration, so would still get through the SVA sorry IVA.

Can split them
Just not sure on price yet.

Was keeping them i mind for a Bike powered jet boat in mind, but I think fossil fuels will of run out by the time I get a round tuit
So now trying to raise funds to build a Toylander for the Kids.

Also have a gear set from a GSXR750, Informed with mods may fit. (6 speed)
A GSXR750 head and Cams. Again have read the cams shortend fit the RF900 Head.

Just a note. The '96 enging has the Coil spring type clutch, the '94 has the diaphragm type.

Martin,

If you aren't sure on price (and it is difficult to gauge the value of these things), then split it and put it on the bay. Things reach a level.

It would be nice if someone realised the benefit of your pre-94 engine and its easy IVA emissions.

Further Notes. Clutches on RF900 are smaller than those on GSXR1100w. www.alpha-sports.com for parts diagrams.

My mate built one of those for his daughter, cost him about £2K, it's got the turning circle of a super tanker!

Clutches a listed as
GSXR1100WP/R listed as
23160-06B01 or 23160-06B02

GSXR1100WS/TV/W listed as
23160-06B02

RF900R 94 and 95-97 listed as
23160-06B02

Looks like they are identical.

Even the 1200 bandit uses the same part number.

Other parts in the clutch are different but some Are still common like the 94 RF900 clutch pressure spring.

From a all this, I'm guessing you are after a neat clutch slave to miss the drive flang

Other option look at the GSXR750. it uses a cable from the other side.

RF900 S-T-V had a different clutch http://alpha-sports.com/spst/1996%20RF900R/09.htm?clicks=2

versus

I only (thought) I knew because someone once kindly sent me an old clutch steel so I could make a tool to remove my clutch bolts.

It turned out not to fit the clutch that I had (too small).

I guess all the clutches fit all the bikes but that you need a "complete" clutch unit.
I guess both of yours have the older (bigger) GSXR clutch.

I have a fairly ugly clutch slave and yours is very nice. I already have a rather massive pile of "seen better days, but have potential" motorcycle bits in my shed, so really am trying to avoid being drawn in!!!

I would like to keep the 2 engines complete,
and as my shiny slave is using the old internals.
I do have the old slave housing spare.

Alternatively if you can wait (busy at the moment) I may be able to make a second slave housing. Just need some ali block big enough. (ebay job some day).

May be I should make one of these

Made this on a DIY CNC Mill/Drill for the ZX12R Clutch cable support.

Takes time but it enjoyable time.
