Carburettor advice needed.

I'm just overhauling a pair of Solex C40 ADDHE carbs (similar to 40 DCOE's) but with 5 progression holes, for my 1.8 Zetec.

Will 32mm chokes be about right, its running on 38mm bike carbs at the moment.

If 32 isn't big enough, max is 36, whats to stop me boring them out in the lathe, then polishing them up?

Cheers.
Pete.

HI
I bored my chocks out from 32mm to 36mm with-out problems. The carbs are weber 40 DCOM. Saved lots of £.

my 1.8 zetec was running 34mm, and gave good performance (149bhp on a rolling road, but that is pretty meaningless as they usually overread!)
Don't go too big or you will lose that all important torque! bigger def not better with carbs.
edit, of course, the lathe is the way to go!

OK Thanks guys, I thought 34mm would be about right, the chokes are pretty rough at the moment, so a bit of machining might help flow too.
