Identifying a Pinto camshaft.
Hi Guys,
Is there any way to identify a camshaft for a Pinto?
It is obviously from a Pinto and has a splash of green paint on the shaft.

Any aftermarket camshaft will have its details marked in the metal of the camshaft. Then you just google the spec

I don't know if there are any markings on the end of the cam, I'll have a look when I receive it!
As the RS2000 Grp1 cam has a red spot of paint, I was wondering if the green spot of paint meant anything if it is a ford cam.

Ford used to I dentify the camshafts from 2 small nipples on the camshaft length about 10mm apart and about 2mm in height and 3mm in diameter each.
These were located between the lobes for either 1 & 2 cylinder or 3 & 4 ( I forget which from memory).
If both nipples were present then it was a 2.0 cam shaft, and if one had been ground off the it was a 1.6 camshaft.
I hope this helps ( mind you I am talking Mk3 & Mk4 cortina age here).
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

I bought a replacement camshaft and it had green markings and it said on the box direct replacement for ford 2.0 O.H.C.
Marked up for RS2000.
Hope that helps
