Zetec to Pinto ~ Starter Motors.

This is the last part (i bet it wont be) that i need to source for my winter project to replace my pinto engine.

I know the usual starter is a lucas lrs707, but several articals also state that a starter from a Diesel Escort can be used when using a Type 9 gearbox.

Does anyone know the model number of the one which fits, there seems to loads of cheap ones on ebay, but which one?

Cheers in Advance,

B

Spot the mistake in the title???
should be Pinto to Zetec

I m aware that the following can be used Pinto starter with a 14mm spacer plate, 1.8 CVH or 2.00 DOHC starter (sierra and Granada for the DOHC)

Remember water pump needs changing if the engines out of a mondeo as they rotate in the opposite directionand the sump needs modding where the starter is as it fouls

DOHC starter on mine, NO sump mods for the silvertop, few ribs ground off a blacktop sump.

An idler is easier to install than spending the cash on a new water pump (unless you want to)

Heres the label on the side of my starter.... Rescued attachment DOHC Starter.jpg

is the black top sump a direct replacement for the silvertop one ?? I retained my alloy sum had it shortened and modified to clear the starter.

What is the cost of the black top sumps
