Rage against the X-factor (do you bit now)

Yeah, its not to hurt cowell, or clearly sony, but as proof that you can do something if you want to.

its a repost, but a worthy one

DON'T BUY FROM AMAZON as it doesn't count toward the chart. it has to cost more than 40p to count or something

don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

I've been thinking about this. It's not going to hurt Simon Cowell's wallet because anyone who would download the X Factor track would be oblivious to this and hardly likely to download Rage Against the Machine as a substitute. In that respect the X Factor track will sell as many as it would anyway.

That said, I think it's funny - so I've done my bit! I think it's the first time I've ever bought a single!

Please everyone, tell your friends, tell anyone that will listen. Go buy it before the 21st so we can stop that X factor winner getting the top spot.

Would be great if it happens.

Cheers

I bought mine from play, and got this

So yeah, I got paid 35p to screw with simon cowell, and get a tune I quite like.

I saw the race to the number 1 slot and the Facebook group trying to stop it made it onto the tv news..............so Simon Cowell got yet another airing on TV during prime time, and no doubt encouraged yet more of the 19 million-odd who watched the final will now go out and buy the X-Factor single!!

Seems like this "cunning" plan is doomed to failure and Simon Cowell will just make even more money out of it.

Sounds like an own goal to me!!!

Yep amazon counts, as do different versions of the song. They all get added together at the end. You'll see on live hits that RATM is currently #1, #94 and #190, all of which should be added up at the end according to the charts company.

Still number one at the moment:

http://www.livehits.co.uk/

But needs a lot more people who say they will buy to actually do it as the CD single is released today for the xfactor song.

These record labels folks are clever. The Rage Against the Machine and the X-factor guy are both on the same label so by buying either for whatever reason, you're lining the pockets of the record label...............
SUCKERS!!!

I'm not fussed about paying money to record companies/artists thats a whole different issue.

I want a legitimate band to have a christmas number one for once. Helps I like the song too

You are stupid for buying into any of this crap.
Didn't watch X-factor, rather work on my car than waste the time. I'd also rather spend my money on my car and so should u.
Brainwashing is very clever, cause you don't know you have been..........

All that will happen is more people will buy Cowells tune because of this campaign, your all being suckered by the record industry.
If you really want to make a difference give your 65p or whatever to the British Legion.

Shelter is the designated charity at the moment for the RATM for #1 spot. So far raised £40k for the homeless this Christmas

So stupid and cynical its not

Everyone's a winner then! X Factor sells as many copies as it would've anyway. RATM sell far more than they would normally at any given Christmas and potentially get to No.1. X Factor lot aren't overly bothered as they just buy it as it's a nice tune by that nice lad that won. The RATM supporters are happy because a "proper band" gets the Christmas No.1. Sony (Cowell's biggest employer) gets more money than it normally would. Shelter get a bigger donation than usual.
Boy, aren't we a generous bunch?

Except they wont!!

The X-Factor single was released for download 2 days later after the final on Sunday, and only today for release on CD. By the end of today i think we'll find X-Factor will be taking the provisional no.1 slot.

Not saying I like it but there we go - those who think they can beat Cowell at this are pretty dilusional I recon.

Nice try though - RATM is soooooo much better but unfortunately destined to be no.2.

RATM is #1 download on:

Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/bestsellers/dmusic

Play (#1 and #3 which will be added together):
http://www.play.com/Music/MP3-Download-Track/6-/TopSellers.html

Itunes (need to log in to see)

And several others too.

It could all change, but time will tell. Yesterday morning RATM was about 10% of sales infront of xfactor.

The point of it is that Cowell doesn't get *another* Xmas number 1. That is a worthy goal in itself.

Have loved Rage since I got into them from watching The Matrix.

Brilliant Rage meets Xfactor video on youtube.

The lyrics to the song are NSFW.

Cheers,
James

as far as i heard earlier RAM were about 50k units ahead - admittedly with the x factor song being available on cd as of today that will change, but no reason why we cant keep it at numner one slot!
