DIY engine mounts

Does anyone have a locost DIY approach to making you own engine mounts?

I need to raise my engine but as suggested on here, the threads on my jag/land rover mounts arn't long enough to add spacers.

I have found some suitable mounts (60mm rather than the current 35mm) for a Jag 420G but they are £40 on fleabay!!!

Weld up some new brackets? so that the mounts you have now (I assume you mean the rubber 'bobbins' fit. It was you that made the chassis, wasn't it?

How about making a couple of spacers out of suitable size tubing with a female thread one end and a male thread the other and put them between the mounts and chassis.You could use some exhaust tube and a couple of bits of 3mm plate.

mine are wishbone bushings- mounted in a tube that a bolt goes through. One bushing on each side of tube and tube welded to a bolt on bracket on the engine. A U bracket holds the tube with bushes in it. Minimal movement but still isolated.

Heavy car Wishbone bushings

I was about to use them from a 1991 Mercury Cougar.
Complete with a piece of the arm, (rear upper arm) IIRC.

Fiesta Engine Mount aka "Fiesta Block Mount"..... MRKII IIRC these are square blocks with a thread each end about 2.5" thick.
Bit like a square version of an Exhaust Bobbin

Yeah but the bottom brackets are welded to the chassis. I might have a go at modifying the brackets that bolt to the block (never welded 5mm steel though )

I made my own mounts out of square tubing and 6mm steel plate, used landrover V8 bobbin rubbers from ebay (the pair was about £7.50 delivered). See photos in my archive - reasonably self - explanatory.

I cheated when it came to welding - I tack - welded them, and took them to a blacksmith / wrought iron gate fabricator to weld them properly. Beautiful job, in total cost me less than £30 all in.
