Big or Long?
In my hunt for a silencer ive found a couple of options.
Either a short can with a big diameter (400mm L X 150mm Dia with a 3" bore) or a longer can but with a smaller diameter (630mm L X 120mm Dia
with a 3" bore)?
Now this is coming from my turbo which should act a a bit of a silencer and i want it to be quiet enough for trackdays.
So which would be quieter?

I've always heard diameter is better than length........ but pertaining to silencers I don't know.

Why not have both?
I have this fitted to mine and it dropped the db from 106 to around 95ish iirc.

The problem i have is that it need to have a bore of 3"

So either buy one and weld a 3" inlet on, or ring CBS and ask them to do it for you (I think they are all made to order)!

In discussion with a specialist silencer supplier I learned that length can be an issue due to expansion, repeated heat cycling will destroy the
central perforated tube. Extrapolating from this I would assume that with a turbo anywhere near the silencer short would be more reliable at least
than long.
