rover v8 gearbox advice

im currently looking about for a gearbox for my rover v8 powered haynes roadster.
Am i right in thinking that i can connect a Triumph tr7 gearbox to my engine? the tr7 gearbox is a lt77 would i just need to buy a rover v8 bell housing?

im looking at a p6 gearbox aswell but this would be my last choice as it only has 4 gears!

Thanks,

Dan

Yes, any lt77 gearbox will fit with the right bellhousing, The lt77 that was fitted to the sd1 vittesse had stronger internals and slightly different ratios. There is another gearbox for you to consider, the R380 which was fitted to some of the land rover discoverys is generally considered a stronger and better box

Think that the T5 'can' offer you better ratios (depending on which one you go for).

As with a relatively light weight car a short first gear is not what you want.
