Lake District Recomendations
Hi all.
Down in the lake district for a couple of days staying at Bowness. Can anyone recommend anything to do tomorrow apart from a boat trip, or a visit to
the beatrix potter museum. Fancied the Go-Ape place but not open during the week till next week.
Cheers
Stuart

Whatever you do don't bother with the cars of the stars museum - right load of crap and you can't even take photos!

Totally go to the Cumberland Pencil Museum in Keswick!! Years ago I'm sure the sign claimed the world's largest pencil, but I think they
must have been beaten. But they still claim the worlds earliest pencil, which is equally cool.

If you have kids or are at all interested yourself, the Beatrix Potter museum is worth a visit.

we did a 7 mile one a few years back, was lovely.
Picnic hamper on a boat was also great.
We stay at the Low Wood Hotel just up from bowness. Some fantastic views over the water.
Beware! Bourettes is binfectious.

While your in Bowness/Windermere a walk up Orrest Head is a good idea, only a couple of miles and not too challenging but with a rewarding view at the
top (if its not cloudy).
Park in (or walk to) Booths car parks next to the station then walk across the main road onto the public path through the trees.
Google Orrest Head for a map/details.
