What are my brake options?
Hi,
I have a Locust build I am doing and it is fitted with cortina uprights and hubs. It came with a nakered set of cortina calipers.
I'm not sure whether to find somewhere that may do a reconditioned set of the above cortina calipers, maybe on an exchange basis or I have heard
that capri 2.8 calipers fit on these hubs?
Will both have enough stopping power for current 1.6 and later 2.0l ?
Cheers for any advice on this

Cortina brakes have more than enough capacity what you have to be sure and do is fit the correct master cylinder for use with out a servo.

Good point britishtrident.
The correct master cylinder in this situation would be..............?
'Cos I'm going to need one.

I got mine from ebay £65, seller id rattachris
They came with new pins and shims.Bargain. You need a 19mm or 3/4" master cylinder.

if i was to do it again I would just send it to biggred mentioned above, however I reconditioned my own.
the std cortina callipers have more than enough stopping power (the cars are so light, they slide very quickly, or maybe that's just my car)

You should be able to get exchange reconditioned M16 calipers from your local motor factor. They are readily available and not expensive.

At £109 for a solid pair and £119 for a vented pair they are very well priced over at biggred for sure. They dont mention an exchange service on their
site so assume thats a outright new set for that.
I have a solid disc set up at the moment, will the hubs just take the vented set up if I bought the discs to match? Also can I use a master cylinder
off a escort or sierra or will something uni like this do ...

Hi,
I have noticed the above is for a clutch I will probably look for a sierra one as I assume you need a res plug for fluid level warning on the
IVA?
I have solid discs at the mo, will the same hubs take the vented disc and caliper offered on biggred?
Cheers all
