XFow Misfiring

Hi,
Ford Xflow. Runs fine until hot (about 10 mins of driving) Then 'lumpy'. Doesn't appear to be overheating. Not especially smokey

New points (checked setting)
New coil
New condensor
Timing is good
Cleaned out the carb/jets

Any suggestions?

try a set of spark plugs if not new ones

What coil are you using?
Make sure that you have not used one that requires a ballast resistor after starting the car, otherwise 12v will cook the coil.
You can usually check to see how hot it gets

Check the basics first starting with the valve clearances. Does it miss when at idle or when driving? Found that lagging the exhaust manifold helped with my cross flow engined car, also reduces the underbonnet temperature

First thing, invest a couple of quid and change the rotor arm. It's a common fault on the crossflow for the rotor arm to develop microcracks that open with temperature and leak the spark to earth.

Tried all the above other than the valve clearences.

Happens at high revs and on acceleration and generally not at all until hot. In fact it runs really very well for about 10 mins

I have to say that coil does get hot. Could it simply be too close to the engine?

BTW, have double checked; it's definitely a 12V coil

If you are checking the valve clearances, make sure the rocker arms aren't pitted on the face that meets the valve, otherwise when you insert the feeler gauge you will not get the correct adjustment.
It they are pitted, flaten them off and do the adjustment again

What carb are you running? I had a problem with the car going onto 3 pots. It was carb problems. Mine runs a twin choke webber.
