Help Needed:- Can anyone identify this Engine Rocker Cover / Cam Cover?

Hi Guys,

I know this is a bit of a "take 2", but I needed to ask for help again!

Does anyone recognise the Rocker Cover/Cam Cover from the Shakey Pics below please?

It isn't any of the suggested engines from my prev post (well I don't think it is after trawling through Google Images for the suggested examples )

{Prev Suggestions were: Saxo // 16v Renault // Civic}

Thanks in advance again!

Steve

I can't say it is from a renault.

I am sure if you ask Prawnabie he will confirm.

It brings in mind something like VAG group

Skoda audi seat

It would be worth mentioning the dimensions of it. Those 6 grooves could be from a 6 pot or is it too short to be from one?

Ok I'll bite, why on earth do you need to know the identity of a cam cover you don't have an engine for

Some more info needed.

What material is it from? dimensions, Is it a rocker cover/ cam cover or is it an engine cover?

Looks like an engine cover as it doesn't have the holes for the plugs

It's an Engine cover, I just didn't know what some people call that!

I've PM'd Prawnabie for advice...

It's not an Elise New or old
I don't think it's a Saxo
I don't think it's a VX
Not a Civic

If anyone does have a proper clue, any chance of finding a pic for me in google images, just in case if when I look for it, I get the wrong year or something please?

As for why I need to know..... errr... errr...

You forgot the dimensions?

Is it for a 3 pot 4 pot or 6 pot?

Give as more clues

Just remembered I forgot Dims!!!

Cheers Lord!

Err, I don't have Dims as it's in work, but it looks like those 6 impressions, are purely cosmetic as it's nowhere near big enough for a 6 pot...

I know it's been suggested and I've discounted it, but I also thought it may have been Clio (older and maybe not top of the range) But in all the google images I've seen it doesn't match...

And because of the box it came in (with the stuff it was with) I thought it might be Vauxall VX or series etc due to Caterham ties, but that doesn't seem right either!!!

It is not this decade for sure.

It looks really simple and most modern manufacturers want bling ones and they also want to cover the whole engine hence the weird shapes.

I was felling citroen but not sure
I have got a feeling it might be for a 3 cyl engine. What about a multi bank engine ie v6

Wouldn't think so.

For some reason, Vauxhals come in mind just because it is so simple and they used to be famous about lack of imagination.

It doesn't actually look like a finished part, as the holes have not been drilled out, my guess is that its a "one of", (especialy if its made of GRP), or a buck to mould from. But for what and for why, absolutely no idea. Cheers Ray

Well it's not a Vauxhall Z20LET .... so that's another off your list ....

May I say, that what ever it is, is most uninspiring and got to agree it doesn't look finished ....

Doesn't look like the one on my wife's 107, so I presume you can rule out the C1 and Aygo too. Doesn't look like a Daewoo / Chevy Matiz, either.

Looks very like the Ka2 / Sportka Duratec cover, though.

Are you sure.......

.......It's not a K-series?

If you look at the spacing of the 3 screw holes and the filler hole, especially on the 3rd photo you have (the one with the filler in the top right position) it looks just like this one from a K-series elise engine. Some of the other grooves are different but the spacing of those 4 holes looks identical to me.

See this link from a pistonheads ad.

[Just to confuse it's a Metro which has had an MG/Elise engine planted into it, but it's a k-series with the Lotus engine cover]
