3 or 4 seater kit car

Afternoon all

As the title of the post really. I'm looking ahead to when the nipper is a bit bigger and can go out in the car.

As they'll be 3 of us I'm looking at potentially builder something with 3 or 4 seats.

My first thoughts was a 60's style beach buggy, more smiles an hour than mile I know but for some reason I fancy one, plus pre 7e no road tax which is a big bonus.

Anyone any experience of these or any other suggestions, budget isn't massive, most of the money will come from selling the Indy.

Cheers

The aeon can be built as a 3 seater

Then there's the vindicator 4 seater 7-a-sortalike

Pilgrim did a full size 4 seater 356 replica...based on an unshorted beetle plan so no IVA...

Pilgrim are doing a Speedster based on a full size beetle chassis (usual replicas have 12 or so inches chopped out) which is a full size 4 seater. Looks ok too, not as neat as the cut down version but still good.

EDIT - Beaten by a few moments!

I like the look of the 356 from Pilgrim. The Findforn, Aeon etc are out of my price range which is a shame.

Very funny on the Volvo idea

Just waiting for Pilgrim to contact me regarding prices etc.

Don't do it.

A stretched 356 OMG! It's tantamount to drawing a moustache on the Mona Lisa.

At least it looks OK (I always though the "real" 356 looked a bit stumpy), which is more than be said of the Vindi...

Speedster is a nice looking car with a small blemish (ie 12 inches longer (lucky for the girls!?)).
Somthing like the vindicator is a big blemish with only small remnants of a good looking car (ie whats left of the the 7 shape)

James Warner had proposed a 3 seater option when planning the WarneR4, but a custom build is going to be a mission on its own, ignoring the costs.

It's a great idea! Turbo an old volvo or put a huge engine in, loads of room in the engine bay. Ultimate sleeper.

now if there was a 3 seater version of James's R4 that would be something to behold.

Unfortunately I do not have the skills required to biuild something that cool.

Maybe James should offer a chassis service!!

Its not that bad if you are in the situation I was in and the OP will find themselves in.

My problem was I had 2 nippers getting bigger so 3 seats wasnt an option. The speedsters were out of my price range and I didnt want an old roadster look or a car that looked like a "normal" sports car ie the quantum et al. Take that set of parameters and your options are very limited. And Im sure Clairetoo could assist in a restyling if so required

The build of Tango was brought in on what I thought was a reasonable budget and I was able to spread the costs and if I say so myself we have managed to finish it to a reasonable level. Ask benzine hes seen it.

One thing I would have had, which is now an option, would be the 8 point roll cage, so the roll cage extends froward and down alongside the screen.

What about this, it would not be long before the kids or wife refused to go in it, so back to the 7 result.

What an ugly beast the Vstorm is........
and have you noticed in their video that the trade plates are strapped to chassis on the offside. Wonder what pc plod would think of that,

I think that would actually make it look much better. The 4 point one always looks to me as if the fabric has blown off the gazebo (meant in the nicest possible way)

Andy Belfield - relation of Geoff Jago who is big into 4 wd conversions has re done the Jago jeep with wider chassis to use mostly discovery parts witha full roll cage, could be a real beast of a thing, he had a demo model at Stoneleigh and could be worth a look.
