MX-5 1.6. Cheap as chips and plenty about. No faffing with gearbox as its the right way already, and is one of the sweetest around. Non interference engine should the cam belt ever fail, and if you need more power, a Greddy turbo kit is easily available and should still come under budget. (You could probably get a whole car for your budget then sell the rest to recoup you costs) Such a great set up I'm currently putting one in my MNR Vortx! What's there not to like?

Gents, stop teasing him!

What you need is an R1 (with a supercharger if your adrenaline gland is on the blink).
