BMW M52 323 Engine and box
Since Im now happy that the Jag engine fits in the beemer Im offering the BMW engine complete with gearbox, loom and remapped ECU.
The engine has been modified with an M50 inlet manifold and BBTB and induction kit
Engine was runing well prior to removal and should be making in excess of 200 BHP
Was tempted to put in in my own locost but Ive got enough on at the moment with the jag conversion into the BMW
The manifold and BBTB would cost over £400 on its own and £175 for the induction kit. The ECU cost £200 for the remap to pull all the bits together
Id let the lot go for £650 plus delivery (thats for everything)
Can also include the first section of the prop

So so tempted to make an offer, wondering how easy the change from the crossflow over to the BMW engine would be though?
Has anyone done this swap yet?

If its a book built locost, you have two hopes
one of them is Bob Hope
plus why use a bit of pig iron, that is over rated, over priced and over here

Drove an E36 323i couple of weeks ago.
what an engine.
Turbine smooth.
It doesn't help that.
A) I knew Andy had already fitted the big inlet manifold and throttle to his.
And
B) I virtually guarantee that I'll be offered this 323i when the owner inevitably gets fed up with it soon.
Great, great engine.
Wouldn't ever fit in a book car, but if you built around it, you would be making a great choice.

My GKD is locost sized and the 3.0 m3 fits perfectly, Obviously great engines. the 323 lumps quite light too. How much would it cost to get 200bhp
out of a zetec?

I love the zetec but there is no replacement for displacment
200bhp at the wheels would take:
Head job and cams ~ £1000
Tbs and ecu discounting bike Tb's and ms £ 1800
Sh engine / box £200 bits to join them upto the same again.
A couple of sessions on the rollers £500
Lets have some photos of your install Franky. pls...
But whats the weight as its got to be half as much again as a zetec ?
zetec around 125kg and around 150bhp as standard.
It would be no racer but may be a nice tourer and nice to do because it can

I think they're about 125kg, the gearbox and housing are really really light though, lighter than the mt75 and the likes.

If you're gonna do a BMW engine, you might as well go the whole hog and use a V8
As has been said, there ain't no substitute for cubes, and it'll sound better, make more power, be slightly shorter (length and height)
etc etc

I'd have to disagree as the bmw v8 are quite big and they do not make more power than the IL6 engines that BMW are famous for

Yep but it'll have to be later in the week. some pics here in the build section. A 328 engine would be a great choice as you're looking
at a revvy 220bhp.

I can confirm that these engines are just about as good as it gets for smooth power and do make a nice noise.
I have said that its about 200BHP but it will be a bit more than this although i dont have any RR figures. If you add together the increases that all
the bits should add, then it could be as high as 215 - 220 especially with a decent exhaust. Cos if you put it in you need to be able to get it out.
Engine comes with BMW's tubular exhaust manifold 2x 3-1 manifolds
