ZETEC Inlet, TBS, ECU???
Hi folks, i try to find the answers with the search tool but i couldn't so here is my problem. I am building a LHD DAX RUSH. I have a 95 silver
top engine and MT75 gearbox. Obviously the inlet manifold cannot be used with this car so i need to know what options do i have.
1. Custom manifold with TBS with MS - it is something that i know will work but is is not locost at all.
2. ST170 manifold which is very hard to find here, TBS and MS.
For these i know. So - the questions: can i use the ECU and injectors that i have from the mondeo with the loom? What kind of TBs to use? I know
that in this forum i can count on you so waiting for your help.
I also have a problem with the gear stick position. I extended it yesterday as it is recomended for my car, butr now with the original stick it hits
my steering wheel when i pit it on 1st gear (LHD remember). It is not a big wheel - 32cm diameter, but probably the stick it too big If i cut it, how
can i make the pull-up button for reverce gear, or just to remove it? Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards
Yavor

Bike carbs and Megajolt are probably the cheapest option depending on what kind of emmissions test you need to pass.

i am currently fabricating a plenum chamber to run the standard injector rail and use the ECU from the mondeo. I got help from a member on this forum
called big-wasa. he has it running on his car and it sounds perfect

I initially whent this way and then changed to Duratec.
ST170 manifold with GSXR 750 throttle bodies, I used the ST170 injectors too, you will also need a new fuel rail to suit.
The throttle bodies will need respacing and the injector pockets on the ITB needs blocking because the ST170 manifold has its own injector ports.
Unless you want to run twin injectors - Megasquirt would be the ECU option or if youve got a bit more cash something like Emerald.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Hi, can you send me some details or drawings or pictures? I will ask big-wasa as well, i saw his pictures. Is there a difference between bike carbs
and trottle bodies? I am not after much power of the car in the beginning, more prefer reliability.

ive done it (but on a fiesta) by fitting GSXR600 throttle bodies, keeping the orignal fuel rail just by making a fibreglass plenum to enable use of
the MAF air flow sensor, worked ok and ended up with 150bhp and reved lot free'er will try get some photo's up later

re your gear extension there was a post yesterday.
link
As for ecu it ran the engine well in the donor so it can do the same in your kit. Bet its never been done in a Dax though
.
95 over here would be a 60 pin eec-1v with the pats immobilizer.
As long as you have the key that goes with the ecu then its doable.
There are no instructions as the pin wiring varies from model, spec and year.
Manifold, keep it simple and use your throttle body from the donor along with all the sensors inc idle controle valve.

Wasa like the original poster also wondering about using a zetec in next build..
If using injection with the plenum chamber how have you fastened the injectors, is there a sandwich plate I need to look out for?
I have bare engine at the moment no inlet or exhaust manifolds fitted.
It looks as though one can pick up escort inlet manifolds complete quite cheep, but all seem to be plastic!!
Using the plate on ebay as shown can they be drilled or machined for the injectors?
Sorry for hijacking the post but of great interest.
Cheers
Adrian
Why do I have to make the tools to finish the job? More time then money.

you can use the early fiesta or 1800 escort zetec injector sandwich plate as shown it top picture but then the stardard manifold plate from ebay will
not fit but you can get them made up.
i done a guide on another web site about making one here

I will have to take some pictures.
there are injector bungs turned up and welded into the flange and runners at the same angle as the plastic one.
The early fiesta/escorts with an alluminium manifold had a seperate plate with the injectors and rail allready mounted.

the ebay ones looks like might be a 1600cc one from the size of the throttle body, the sandwich plate ports are a little bit smaller than the 1800 one
but not much and if fitting ITB's shouldnt an issue, just need to fit the 2litre side feed injectors so all injection items match the ECU

As above but there will be plenty of metal to give it a bit of a porting.
Ports only need to be as big as the head. If your using the whole thing then a 2l Tb bolts directly on.
