OT - CD rack (inspiration needed)
I'm slowly getting somewere with the house and need to find a home for my CD's - about 600 of them but growing all the time (+30 or more
every year....sometime alot more)
I'd like something a little more interesting than the average ikea shelf....
I've been looking around for something to put them in/on but I've not seen much I like (at least not at locost prices  )
I'm not afraid to have a go at making something, but me and wood don't work well together  (I do like wood, I've just neve been
any good at making things from it)
so has anyone got ideas ? (with pics if posible)

Quite suprised anyone is still buying CDs in the age of digital. I have 2 Tb of mps all stored on a little nas that sits in the study. Ever thought
of digitizing the CDs rather than having then take up so much space ?

all done already for everyday use, but I like CD's

I quite like this idea:
Build some stairs and then use the CDs as the risers :-)

Attach them to the walls. It works better with LPs but it would be kind of cool with CD as well.
Are there any requirements your not telling us like do you want quick access to them or them on display or anything like that?
Just consider yourself lucky they're not LP's, storring 600 could be difficult, then again your unlucky because tape stores better.

My dad has his in drawers of a bespoke 'hifi cabinate'
Its the lenght of four hifi singles units (plus ends, cental riser, and air gaps) , side board sort of height and about 500mm deep with a nice wood
top, room for two high singles (eight in total, or some double hieght ones) followed by four draws which are one cd's depth (3 cd's
depth) and then underneith if a pair of cupboards, vinal in one side, drinks cab in the other.
Its not a small peice, but if you want something big the stores CDs/Hifi etc
Estimated 4*3*45=540 ish CDs and clearly more drawers, less hifi/drinks storage would allow as many as you fee you would require. I'll dig out a

^^ I should probably get myself a proper hi-fi anyway
since I got my own place I've mostly been using my PC (with half decent 7.1 setup)
