screwdriver set help
Evening all, im after your opinions, basically im after a decent set of screwdrivers which dont snap ive had to many cheap sets that just snap
whenever im trying to do a job! Im thinking of snap-on as a good make but not sure wheres best to get them from at a reasonable price? Appriciate any
help Greg

Halfords are doing an 'advanced' set for £9.99 or £19.99 which i have found really good.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

Im watching. Very hard to buy good screwdrivers.
Had some nice stanley ones about 5 years ago but i bought some of there professional range last christmass and they where shite.

I got a Halfords £9.99 set free with some oil from them. They are actually quite good.
Duratec Engine is fitted, MS2 Extra V3 is assembled and tested, engine running, car now built. IVA passed 26/02/2016

Was on the Snap On van today at work, they have a couple of screw driver sets on offer at the moment, around 8 drivers for £110 + Vat
But you do get a free mug....
I have a Facom set from Prime Tools similar to these.

I got a set of Teng ones a year or so ago, about £25.
Look nice, but they are a bit too soft. Two blade tips are now twisted and some of the pozi's are rounding.
I since bought a bit driver, nice Britool one off ebay for about a fiver, then went to Toolstation and bought 6 Wera bits to go in the end.
That is now my tool of choice, the Teng ones have been relegated to opening tins of paint and the bit holder is my number one 'set' of
screwdrivers.
best bit is that when the bits wear out, and these Wera ones have taken a beating and no sign of wearing, then I can just buy what I want as and when
I need it.
And the Wera bits grip so much better than the Teng screwdrivers.
EDIT: this is what I bought:
BRITOOL 190MM SCREWDRIVER BIT DRIVER ** on eBay (end time 15-Dec-10 15:43:59 GMT)
and I think I am about to get one of these too...
BRITOOL 30MM SCREWDRIVER BIT DRIVER ** on eBay (end time 08-Dec-10 15:52:09 GMT)
But make sure you get GOOD quality bits

I've got some Wera screwdrivers that have been great, would definitely get some more if they ever break...

Thought Teng Tools were guaranteed for life.
Why not take them back?
Edit to say; Their side cutters are the best I've ever had in forty odd years of buying tools.

I can't take my Teng ones back as I got them off ebay.
And my post was more of an indication that instead of screwdrivers then perhaps consider a driver and bits, purely for that reason.

another vote for Wera here. the laser etched tip ones are great, i just wish i had them while i was building
the halfords ones are alright for prying things and using for those jobs where you shouldn't really use a screwdriver. other than that,
i'm not impressed. the wera ones were only £18 for a set of 6 and worth every penny.

Wera are excellent.
My favourite have to be Sandvik (now Bahco) Belzer though - very hard wearing and the most comfortable I've used.

Another vote for wera too. I got a set from toolstation. I use one of these at work and home SNAP ON ratchet screwdriver on eBay
(end time 07-Dec-10 20:58:23 GMT) excellent and theyr designed arganomically so you can get more torque when you turn the screw. It was the
first snap on tool i bought when i first started as a mechanic 12 years ago and still going strong. Plus its got a liftime garantee. I bought
another one shortly after for use at home. I rarely use a normal one.

I have done 3-4 oil changes over the years, so i, my daughter and a couple of friends have these sets now, and i think they are very good
I personley do like a proper screwdriver opposed to the bit system,
I have trays of "bits" but can never seem to find the right one
