Propshaft to Sprocket Adapter Bolt Torque
Hi All, Happy New Year.
Loft conversion finished & back working on the car. It WILL be on the road this year.
I'm just fitting my propshaft & need to know what torque to use on the 4 bolts connecting it to the sprocket adapter. These bolts are 10-9
standard pitch as opposed to the fine pitch bolts on the diff end so I'm wondering whether the torque settings in the haynes manual for the
prop-to-diff bolts are valid?

Torque should be lower. I torqued my rears (to diff) on 60Nm (fine pitch) and front (to engine) 40Nm (standard pitch)with plenty of thread lock. I put
a line from the bolt head all the way to the washer and flange with a permanent paint marker so it aids as a visual indication on wether the bolts are
coming loose. Actually i did thsi process on all wishbone, engine mounts etc.. Its a common practice used by teh Japanes on all high performance
cars.

Have you got those values the right way around?
60 for fine pitch 40 for standard pitch.
If you wanted to stretch the bolts equally then wouldn't you put less torque on the fine than the standard, as the fine has greater mechanical
advantage.
Just surprised.
