Cooling system problem

Hi

I've changed my coolant on my MX5 and I don't think my water pump (or thermostat) is working correctly even though the temp gauge is normal....

When you run the car without the rad cap on, and it's to temperature what should you see in terms of flow....should the water really be churning up or is it a very slow flow ?

My top hose is red hot but definitely isn't full, in fact I'd say it is virtually empty and when you squeeze it, it doesn't seem to alter the level or flow in the rad (with engine on and rad cap off).

Be grateful for any advice

thanks
Paul

Sounds like an air lock in the coolant. Try removing rad cap when cool and make sure coolant runs out. Loosen other hoses and check for same. Good luck.
