expansion tank ?

I have a crossflow engine fitted but i can t find any information about the cooling system anywhere . In the chris gibbs book there does not seem to be an expansion tank for the radiator . I know that because the radiator is fitted so low it has to be topped up through the top of the thermostat housing. But i would be happier if i had an expansion tank for easy monitering of coolant levels .If one was mounted near the battery it would be higher up than the radiator. Is it normal practice to have an expansion tank on a crossflow or unheard of ? Also i am not fitting a windscreen heater so what alterations would i need to make to the plumbing .If any ?Last of all ! Has anybody got any pictures on here of crossflow pipework ? Any advice much appreciated .

in that case a search might prove useful,
the logic seems sound however, can i ask whether you need to think about demisting options if its going to be IVA'd?

Heres the set up on my Stiker when I bought it

The expansion tank was fitted on the bulkhead with the outlet connected by a "T" piece into the bottom hose via the red pipe running under the alternator. There was also a smaller pipe running to the Fiesta type thermostat cover (just visible withe green tape on it). System seemed to work well.

Hope this helps a bit

I think you are mixing expansion tank up with header tank.

Expansion tank runs off the take off from the radiator cap.
