a few switch questions
ok guys, brain taxing time again!
i've just fitted my wiring loom but there is nothing to connect it up at the moment so it's time to make a move in that way!
where do i fit a brake light switch? as the brake pedal doesn't pivot in the same way as those fitted to everyday road carsi'm not seeing
how i can use a normal switch on it? any clues?
also indicator switches and mainbeam switches. do they have to be located on the steering column or can i fit a switch on the dash to operate them?
i'm sure i saw a rocker switch type thing that said it was self cancelling for indicators....would that pass a SVA?

You can use a pressure operated brake light switch that goes in your brake lines, very simple to install.
As for the column switches I'm not 100% sure but I think dash mounted ones would be OK, in fact I think they're quite common on westfields
with removable steering wheels

dash mounted is ok, and indicators dont need to be self-cancelling. think bike! the radius rule applies though so pick rockers rather than toggles,
unless they fall in the exempt area. If the indicators arent self cancelling then i would put a very bright dash warning light to ensure they arent
left on by accident - you dont want people pulling out on you all day long!

You can mount all, or some switches on the dash.
Many SVA compliant switches available - ours are illuminated and can my purchased with gang outer frames to help fitting neatly.
You must have turn signal warning lights, and can also wire up in parallel a buzzer if you want to ensure you turn the switch off.

scooby, u got any clues where i can get the pressure switch from? i asked our supplier of all out electrical gear at work today and he just frowned at
me!

mini's used them, pressure switches that is, so probably anywhere that sells mini spares

Mine came with my brake line kit from MK, you could give them a ring and find out where they get them from, or they may be able to send you one
