OT: moving big stuff at short notice

My friend has the chance to buy some printing machinery at a great price (printing company gone out of business), it's just what he's after. The catch: he's got til the end of monday to take it away or it gets weighed in, and it's in Southampton (he's in Lincs). There's too much machinery to fit into a 3.5t van and he can't drive a 7.5t (which I could drive but I can't on that day) Any ideas how to get this stuff moved at such short notice? Hauliage/courier places he's tried have either been closed on the weekend or can't fit him in.

Depending on how big a bargain...
Rent some space locally to the gear and do it in many trips? buying some time (at a cost)
Not sure how much these storage places charge but am pretty sure there is one near the docks in s/hampton

I'm not that far from S/Hampton, but have no room here otherwise I would offer
Brother in law has a big unit this way (Fareham), but AFAIK its stuffed to the gills as his other shop had to move out
I will make enquiries shortly and report back

Regards
Rob

Edited to add- maybe not a great solution if he cannot physically get here to shift the stuff - have texted him anyway

Is this a logic problem?

So he has to do two trips.

Assuming he has a van already then:

Drive down to Southampton in van.
Rent an additional van (from Southampton).

Load both vans.
Drive rented can back to base and unload, drive back to Southampton and drop off van at rental place.

Take original van home and unload.

Basically it adds a one day van rental to the cost.

Bl**dy great answer...
You must have sorted a lot of bridge-duck-wheat-wolf problems.
Sorry, I had a couple too many....
