F27 Woes... (part resolved)

Took the Formula 27 to the Car Clinic in Edinburgh today. Nothing major... just a list of little niggly things that need fixing!

The negative lead wasn't connected to the battery terminal particularly well. The timing is retarded. It's been under-fueling due to an incorrectly set FPR and a crushed connector pipe (the builder had tightened a clip too far!).

The exhausts are pretty much 'straight-through' cherry-bomb thingies and aren't giving much back-pressure.

And that's about it... for now! I'll get these resolved, then go back to set-up the carbs on the dyno.

I'm feeling slightly more confident there will be some summer hoonery to be had in it!

Why do you think you need back pressure?

Don't ask me... I'm an exhaust-tech-imbecile!

It was the tuning-man who said that it lacked back pressure (and he was 71, so he should know... based on the assumption that old people know everything!).

Maybe you could show him how to type "back pressure myth" into google.

Or you could stick a potato in the exhaust to generate some

Was it car clinic at abbeyhill that you took i too, if so the older gent is a fountain of knowledge.
I had my car in there last week checking out the fueling on the recent R1 install and found them to be very helpful. Pointing me in the right direction on my fueling, car now running a lot better.

Nice one scootz, but I think that you have missed the summer, it was in April and May. Cheers Ray

After all the exotica and a slightly less exotic but historic Procomp car......the car you actually get on the road is......... a Formula 27 with an automatic gearbox????? LOL , you're a legend - a very misguided legend mind you but a legend non the less

There's time yet though for you to sell a vital component from it.............
