obd 2 reader
Hello,
i was looking to buy a obd2 reader , but there are so many on ebay .....
and prices go from a few quids to hundreds...
So , do you use them , what would you recommend ?

Personal preferences and price aside choice you make depends on a few factors.
However there is no point in buying any unit that dosen't read live data and pending fault codes, it is even better if the scanner can graph
live data.
For a general purpose hand held OBDII reader look at the Autel MaxiScan® MS509
also the Memoscan U581 or U585 however these don'r have the live data graphing facility of the Autel unit however the U585 has the
advantage of additional functions for VW
If you want to spend more money for a reader that will read and clear a wider range of codes the cheapest hand held units are the Autel 700 series
--- do a search on Autel EU702.
However if you have a notebook or netbook consider the alternative of a cheap Elm like USB interface.
Cheap Bluetooth interfaces are also available but in my experience these tend to be a bit iffy even more so when used with a smartphone.

Years ago I got one from here link for £70 with postage.
You run it via you laptop so get all the dials in your display and can log stuff, clear codes etc.
Worked well for what I wanted, and small enough to just leave in the car, used it for setting up my LPG conversion.
I also got a locally powered one off Ebay for £15 just to read and reset codes, this was great as well.

I bought a cheap Memoscan U380, which was fine for reading a Ford Fiesta ECU. It can also reset codes too.
Your decision really depends on what you want it to do.

I bought one of these, then downloaded an app for my HTC Desire (Android). Works fine, reads live data and fault reports.
OBD-II
Cost is just under £18, delivery is free.

The Memoscan U380 was a good unit but limited in that it can't display live data which is pretty essential for tracking down emission
