Zetec blacktop 2.0 cooling hoses

First of all, Merry Christmas to all locosters!!

Now the mad day has gone, i can think about the cooling for my car. I now have a new rad (polo) and fan

What I need to get now are the hoses and pipes to plumb it in. Where is the best place to buy them all? ebay?? Also what type of pipes? silicone or rubber. Also what size and length of ali pipes etc. Im running a standard blacktop 2.0 setup with standard thermostat housing.

Any help and advice always appreciated.

Andy

The pipe work will depend on where you put the header tank if your using one ?

The polo rad and zetec stat' housing are 32mm. Water pump on silver top is bigger but I think black top is 32mm aswell.

Ive used a flexi silicone for most of mine.

You need a bit of 32mm tube with two spures. One for the bypass and one for the header tank. I used steel as its cheap and I can weld it. This goes between water pump and bottom of rad.

Ive used another 32mm tube from the stat to the top of the rad. Again steel so I can weld bosses into it for things.

Stat bypass fromm memory is 22mm. This goes to the spure in the bottom hose.

Russ Bost on here will do you nice alloy ones to your size with the ends beaded for not much dosh and with great service.

Hi Andy, i got my silicone hoses from these guys on ebay, Auto performance silicone hoses . I bought (1 metre 32mm , 2metre 22mm , 1 metre 8mm , 3 elbow 90 degrees 32mm , 3 elbows 90 degrees 22mm , 1 elbow 135 32mm, 1 elbow 90 degree reduced from 22mm to 18mm for the header tank. If you have a look in my photo archive under the radiator folder there are some pics of my set up . forgot to say i used some 32mm alloy pipe from B&Q to join the hoses together , and i had a 32mm pipe made with two 22mm T pieces welded on for the bottom radiator hoses to the water pump.

Dunk.

I used a couple of silicone bends off the bay and cut the ends off to connect the straight bits. A piece of 32mm ali aerial pole from B&Q and some 15mm copper for the bypass. Header tank is at the front feeding into the bottom hose close to the rad well away from the bypass entry point.
