brake master cylinder

hi everyone,
in need of a little help. just got round to putting brake fluid in and bleeding, all seemed good.
came out the next day to find a small pool of fluid in the footwell.
by the looks of it the end seal is knackered.
the car is a locost which i am modifying to a bec.i think the master cylinder is off a mk1/2 escort,and i will mostly be doing track days.
can i get a new seal kit, if so where from?
also is this cylinder man enough for braking on track days, if not what would be a good replacement?

A repair kit should be successful provided the end of the bore cleans up OK Measure the bore of the cylinder before you try and order the parts, on Mk2 escorts brake cylinders have metric threads, nearly all Mk1 Escorts were UNF threads only the last couple of years production of Mk1 Escort had tandem brake master cylinders --------------------------- but why not take the opportunity to switch to a Fiat master cylinder it may work out cheaper than a repair kit.



Also if you fit a repair kit don't use WD40 on any of the parts in contact the the rubbers or fluid, clean with meths or brake cleaners and use copious amounts of rubber grease when fitting.

cheers for the advice.
think it is a late model as it has 3 ports for the pipes.

what model of fiat is it?
also is it a upgrade of sorts(more braking effort)

Methylated spirits is also Mineral oil based and will damage the seals in the same way as WD40 or most other cleaners/lubricants.

ONLY use clean fresh brake fluid DOT 4 or better (not DOT 5) for cleaning or lubricating during the rebuild.

Lot's easier to replace the whole cylinder - it's what I'd do

right phoned brakes international but the dont do any mk2 bits or cylinders,but have put in touch with some one who does.

i have spotted a rs mexico one(new and complete) but it is a 20.6 bore instead of the 19 which mine is.
will this be ok?
will it give more braking effort?
any drawbacks?

The bigger bore (20.6) will make the pedal harder to push for the same decel' when compared to a 19mm bore.

You can compensate by changing the pedal ratio - so it could work if you wanted
