my cbr 1000 bec

hi thought it was about time to put up some pics of my little project.
I got this locost last year in bits as the previous owner had stripped it down to put stainless panels on.
it had a 1.1l escort engine in that was goosed as it had been left with water in over winter,so the core plugs had popped out and wouldnt turn over.

I soon ripped the old engine out and got my hands on a cbr 1000f and started the process of fitting.

after a couple of minor misshaps, one being after trying to bleed the rad system it blew a plastic hose tee piece and threw boiling water over my hand and all over the garage. The next day after calming down as i was about to go to town on it with a hammer, i found out the water pump shaft was snapped.doh.

it is now painted and i have had a couple of small spins out and all is great. the only issue is it tops out at just over 100mph so i think a different diff ratio is in order.

Thanks for all the help from fellow members

Hi.
I'm building an haynes roadster too with this engine... What's your diff ratio now?
It's fast to reach 100mph?
Any videos of it?

Tks

Very nice, just one comment, (but drive it for a bit so as you can critically judge the difference for yourself) get the air intake into the cold air stream,
enjoy

most BEC's top out at 100mph or there abouts, and in my opinion thats not where you want the performance to sit. I'd rather have V fast acceleration at the expense of top end, than the other way round.

Realistically I was at 100mph for seconds on a drive out, but enjoying the acceleration 50% of the time.

you'll certainly need a bit more than 100 if your planning on taking it on track, at least another 20. my old blade engine would hit 119(gps, dash recorded 123)

Hi all, thanks for your input and i am glad you like it.

the diff ratio is about 3.89 but havent actuall checked, so looking at going to 3.54.
i will post a vid or two once i get my camera mount fitted.

although acceleration is fantasic as said i need more top end for track use, which is mainly what this is for.
also it will easily take a higher ratio without too much comprimise as i have a couple of power mods yet to do.

i have just fitted a oil temp and oil pressure gauges this weekend as i had an issue with my last track car after cooking the oil.

next in line is a supension and camber/toe set up as its a bit of a handfull at the moment, but on the whole i am well chuffed.
looking forward to putting a few more miles on the clock and getting a couple of track days booked in.
