How to identify steering rack.
Hi
I had a tie rod issue and Scootz sorted me out with a pair from Cortina as I was told it may be by the previous owner. On looking at the thread they
are different and I am now left guessing it's escort.
Any tips or info that would serve me well in identifying would be really appreciated as I would rather avoid the process of ordering tie rods and
Stirling them until I find the right ones. Is it a case of they will be OK but I need to get the adjoining track rod ends and just put them on?
Hope this isn't a stupid. Thanks

Mk2 Escort have exactly the same thread as Mk3 to 5 Cortina M14x2 which is visibly a very coarse tread.
Mk1 Escort ( and also Capris ) use 0.5" UNF which is a quite fine thread.
also M14 has approx 1.8 mm larger diameter than 0.5" UNF
