DVLA profile suggestion
Given my recent issues with Norwich DVLA, it got me thinking about some sort of method to rate each DVLA office to build up a profile which will in
turn help future builders compare the info and then decide on which office to use or avoid in registering their builds.
For each office, useful info such as:
Total length of time to register from start to finish. The options could be
A) Less than an hour, done over the counter
B) Two to three days
C) Up to a week
D) Up to a month
E) Over a month
Or in my case - 6) still waiting!
Inspection required
Yes or No
Time to receive inspection appointment letter from start of registration process:
A) N/A
B) One week
C) Two weeks
Etc..
Inspection appointment date given in relation to start of registration process
A) One week
B) Two weeks
C) One month
Etc..
Location of inspection
A) At the DVLA office
B) DVLA visit the build at the builder’s home address
C) For Norwich, they inspect at the VOSA test center.
Getting in contact with the local office
A) Easy
B) Awkward
C) Not a chance
Type of plate expected
A) Q
b) Age related
C) Brand New
Type of plate received
options as above
Length of time to receive V5
Overall satisfaction with service out of 10
What do we think, useful or not?

As all local DVLA offices are due to shut this may be irrelevant.

The interesting thing is if they shut the local offices how will the inspections be arranged?
Will they have VOSA do it, or MOT stations or back to the old system where the police came round to check?
Alternatively have the forgotten to plan for it and meaning chaos?

IIRC you can only register a car at the office that is local to your address. That was what Swansea told me when I did mine in 2006, but I might be
wrong.
