You are using a bulb warning light not an LED ?

The wiring is correct, the warning light goes out when you get a balanced voltage across it Therefore if the bulb does not go out check to see what voltage is coming out of the alternator.

Blip the engine and give it a few revs. Some alternators need a bit of a kick to get them going.

alternators use the warning light in a peculiar way, you will require a bulb to the spec of the original car (the Daihatsu Charade) warning light.
