Hayabusa Wiring

So here's the problem:
Decided to tidy up the under-dash area of my MK GT1, there were loads of Scotchlock terminals, taped joins, various types of crimps. Lots of warning LEDs that didn't work.
Made a really nice new ally dash, covered in 3M D-noc, new Savage switches etc.
So I chopped out a load of stuff, made several new soldered and heatshrinked joints. All looked really good.
Went to start her up: no joy; FI light.
Put in a code switch link and get C42= Ignition switch.
Now the car only ever had a two position standard switch, a live feed and a load circuit, I suspect the orange wire to the ignition.
It also has an ignition toggle switch, and a starter button, both of these work, when I turn on the key but not the ignition I get "check" on the dash, turn on ignition and it goes but soon after the FI light comes on.
The loom has beene extended, so many of the colours don't match.
Looking at the wiring diagram in the Haynes manual it shows the key switch pairing up three circuits: Starter, ECU and lights.
It looks as though the ECU circuit, orange yellow goes to earth; black white, is this the case?
I am not worried about the lights and I know the starter works.
I haven't chopped any wires outside of the under-dash area so all I can imagine is that I have broken/ cut some link wire?
Its a first series Hayabusa circa 2000.
Any thoughts?
I got really fustrated with it last night!
Will post pictures soon when all the work is done.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

There should be a resistor in the ignition switch wiring (100 ohm iirc). You haven't chopped it out have you? Yes the orange wire should be conected to earth (black/white) via this resistor.

Wow, thank you, a quick visit to Maplin, insert resistor and all appears OK she fires up, thank you!
