Ford type 2 G Box

I've recently acquired a type 2 GT box but the spigot on the end of the input shaft has been cut down. I assume to make it easier to fit an engine with the Gbox still in situ. The spigot is now only 10-15 mm long when it should be about 35mm
Questions:

Is this still long enough to engage in the crank spigot bearing and is it ok to run this ?
Is the input shaft from a non GT box the same as the GT box as I do have a standard type 2 box I could use for spares

Thanks Graham
