Best Track & car combo (list included)
Hi guys n gals
I have a track day to book, one of those driving experiences. The choice of tracks are:
Longcross, Surrey
Bruntingthorpe
Mallory
Blyton Park
Elvington
Having never been to any of them I could do with some feed back as to the good points and bad points of each. The cars I get to drive are two of the
following:
Ferrari 360
Aston Martin V8 Vantage
Audi R8
Lamborghini Gallardo
Porsche 997 Turbo
Ariel Atom
Single seater
Nissan GTR
So if any of you have experience of any of the above tracks please let me know you thoughts, also suggestions as to what car/track combo you would go
for and why?!!!
Thanks
Andy

Of those tracks, I would have tp say Mallory. I'm not a fan of old airfields and Blyton is a nice little track but its not a
'proper' circuit like Mallory.
As for the choice of cars...... You need to let your heart tell you which ones to choose!

yes mallory.
the last one I went to was with a friend for his birthday, I only went to photograph,
ended up driving the cheapest car there, focus rs - £25 for 4 laps.
my mate pre booked a 911 3.4.
I was allowed to go far faster.
so if you want fun and speed, of your choices pick 4wd as the instructor will hopefully let you rip it.
if not, pick your favourite but dont be disappointed if you cant hammer it.

For me it would be the single seater, atom or the Nissan gtr (in that order)
The benefit of the single seater is you haven't got anyone sat by your side telling you to slow down lol

Mallory,
Atom and Single Seater.
The problem is, even though there wont be anyone by your side in the single seater, it probably has a low rev limit set.

Track would have to be Mallory
As for car choice that really is down to what you woud like to drive. Its not a race so its not neccesary to try and choose the fastest, think I would
include the single seater though.

I love Mallory (and live a stones throw), but (don't shoot me down) if you want fast fast then it can be a bit short.
Just my opinion

When i drove the atom, they insisted you didnt touch the throttle until you were completely straight out of a corner, which i found a bit boring.
Damned fast. The gallardo they didnt mind if you flogged it.

The Atom has a certain appeal.
To be honest, in the late 90s I've had spine-tingling fun being driven properly in a 'slow' car. Perry McCarthy whizzed me around
Brands for a few laps in an Elise and it was just breathtaking what he could make the car do. Quicker cars drove away in the straights, (boring), but
it was a hoot careering around corners at seemingly impossible speeds and keeping the car glued.
Similarly Gavin Kershaw, the Lotus chief ride and handling engineer who won 'The Sideways Competition' three years running, took me out in
an Elise and wrang it's neck around Hethel. Just fabulous!
As they say, it's the driver, not the car. Pitch your car choice to be compatible with your ability. Enjoy.

I wouldn't be so bothered about the:
997,
360,
Vantage
I would think that they wouldn't want you to bin the Single Seater, so may be restricted (as above)
I think the R8 would be a good choice, and the Gallardo is my favourite supercar.
Basically you really want to choose the one that they are gonna let you give it the full beans...
My preference would be Mallory Park and then;
Nissan GTR - I've always wanted to give one some welly
Gallardo
R8
Atom - not too bothered
Cheers,
Steve
