Hi
This is what we did on ours, the aly plate is 1/8" thick & the filler cap is raised about a 1/4" from its surface.
This also adds a bit of rigidity to the rear tub,

The top panels are a black plastic in 3 sections, 2 small outer ones have the slots, the central one has the
cut outs for the seat belt mountings & a hole for the filler cap, need
to be accurate or it will look like s**t , all is held down with black flange head screws.
The rings hide the back edge of the slots are soft plastic, make the rings slit them & twist to fit over the bars.
we also glued pieces of wood to the underside of the tub for the self tappers to go into & also to the edge of
the small panel on the left for the centre section to sit on & be fixed to.
That way all panels are removable for access.

Good luck
