Diesel Tuning Gizmo
Ive bought one of those diesel tuning gizmos to fit to my 58 plate 1.6D Berlingo Multispace. Problem is I have to remove the battery and battery tray
to fit it. Not up on modern cars so much so can I just disconnect the battery without having problems with all the electrics when I reconnect it?

dont fit it. these little boxes just fool the ecu into thinking the common rail pressure is LOWER than it actually is, and therefore opens injectors
longer to compensate. If you want more power a proper re-map on the original ecu is much better and safer, this will maintain all the fuel pressure
safety algorithms in the ecu - there for a reason IMO.
if you do want to fit it, just make a note of the radio code (its probably written in handbook)

as said get it remapped correctly your fuel consumption will go down and your power will increase. The boxes are a crock of sxxt and will cost you in
the end

When you say diesel tuning gizmos, what exactly is it?
Best way is to get it remapped..

I'm guessing your talking about a DTUK box? If so you normally only disconnect the plug to your fuel fail and connect the box between these 2
plugs. Shouldn't be any reason to disconnect your battery.
But disconnecting your battery shouldn't cause any problems.

Disconnecting batteries on modern cars can and will cause problems if not done correctly. Autodata on line has a section just for
disconnecting/reconnecting batteries. It may be that on that particular car it is straight forward but as I said in my original answer check the
handbook at least.
Myke , if you let me have the reg number I can check Autodata tomorrow
