Rev counter modification ?

Many , many years ago I saw a stand at Newark show , that would re-build or modify any kind of gauge - convert mechanical to electronic , re-calibrate speedo's etc - but I no longer have their details .

What I need is a standard Mx5 tacho changing from 4 cylinder to 6 - does anyone know where I could get such a mod done ? At the moment I have a dash top tacho , but its rubbish - it reads 500 rpm slow , sits at 500 rpm when switched off , and cant get even close to keeping up with the engine through the gears

I have used The Gauge Shop, and ADO Instruments before, I cannot find any reference to ADO now, maybe he's stopped trading.

Speedy Cables also do speedo re calibration, so them and the Gauge Shop worth a try.

Can you not just get a pulse converter?

Not sure if he still does them - but i got pulse converter from him quite a few years back for a custom speedo calibrator. Worked well. Might be worth an email, was about £35 IIRC.

Just a thought could the tachometer from the 323 V6 not be grafted into the instrument pod in some way?

I had a reply to last nights email - at 8 this morning
It looks like a go'er , but one question -
quote:

I assume that the ECU output is standard ie. 3 pulses / rev for a 6 cyl engine

Anybody know the answer to this ? I am currently running the tacho off the Edis `test' output

John did my Tach on the Jag, when I converted from Distributor to MJLJ/EDIS6, yes its 3 ignition pulses per rev.

Thats what I specified and its fine.
