newbie here!!
hi folks hope to be on here alot more in the future my problem is this...... i have a 180bhp 205 which i love but thoses pesky 7's keep whooping
me at ty-cros so i have decided to level the playing field so im looking for a locost, but coming from a Pug background and not wanting to get
involved with changing an MI16 to rwd i figure i have to go the Ford way so before i start buying anythin with a blue oval thought id ask you guys do
i look for a capri, escort, or siera and does anyone have a good link or guide for the years to go for

My only suggestion is that you spend a few hours reading the archive here. Especially the running gear and engine/transmission ones.
Those will give you a really good insight into what is possible. Most things are, and someone on here has either done it or has thought about it and
conducted some form of feasability study.
Anyway, you've come to the right place - enjoy

your right about the right place been at work since 6 and im still reading, personaly i think you guys are mad!! i mean come on bike engines i can

Stu,
You should add Cortina to your list. It's probably the best donor for a 'book' car. You'll need Cortina front uprights anyway
so you might aswell use a Cortina where you can get rear axle, steering rack, column (if it's collapsible- SVA), and plenty of other bits.
If you're really stuck to find the older stuff then you can get away with a Sierra donor but there's plenty of things to solve if you go
this route so make yourself fully aware of the pitfalls before you start- unless you want your car to take as long as mine has!
As a rule of thumb- the closer you stay to 'The Book' the quicker your car will be finished.

are you thinking of building one from scratch? If you are unsure, it is also worth considering building a kit from any of the manufacturers listed on
here (and others that aren't), depending on your budget/capabilities etc.

ive seen a chevy v8 in one MY GOD IT WAS LOUD!!!! had to widen the rear arches to fit his extra wide rubber in
naw im not building it from scratch im buying a built chassis my welding isnt that hot! mounts etc im happy with as for the mechanics im quite handy
so looking forward to the blood sweet and tears ahead! (and proberbly the long cold nights and tantrums too!!)

If you are buying a chassis most use a Sierra as a donor. Buy yourself one and strip out the bits you want as you will learn loads about how to fit
the parts to your new car, don't worry too much about the model unless you want things like rear discs and want to use the engine. Why not go
Pug Power? You can bet someone has done it!

as Zetec says, most manufacturers base their chassis on Sierra donors. Its best to decide which manufacturers chassis you want, as this will determine
which donor vehicle you have to look for.

cheers for all the tips guys your a very helpful lot! unfortunatly the psooc has become a bit mines better than yours and when your not into bodykits
and subwoofers it alll becomes a bit dull so ive now put a deposit down on an eldon roadster rollins chassis so here comes the fun part!

ford doner there websit dosent work but there in the netherlands but heres a finished one with a fiat 16v

Oh, ok.
Another site I've seen mentioned a Sierra axle so maybe it's that then!
Anyway, I admire your bravery- have you even seen the kit? Any idea of how well it's made? Does the bodywork fit well? Just hoping you
haven't ended up with a Tiger Avon on your hands!
Although if the other Dutch stuff (sevens!) I seen are anything to go by it should be pretty good!

ive seen some very good pics and it all seams very tidy so far the guy has a westfield bonnet for it too apparently all the westi cones and wings fit
nicly so fingers crossed it wont be a tiger in the making! lets face it they used the word "replica" to the full extent when they made
that kti!! lol

There was one in a Pug205 at Brands when I did a track day there. It was spitting flames out the back! Was on three wheels round most of the corners
too!

oh i get my 205 on 3 far too oftern!
as for the mi i can see it being more hassel than its worth for my first build might stick with a xflow and see how it goes!
