Easiest engine replacement?

Currently have the 2.0 pinto twin 40 etc

want a more up to date motor. ie vx duratec or zetec, which would be the easiest to replace the pinto with?

Bearing in mind exhaust exits etc..

dont really want to go down the injection route. that means new tank plumbing etc // any suggestions?

Not sure which way the zorst would exit on a duratec, but i do know the bolt patern for gearbox is different so thats a bellhousing issue.

The zetec zorst exits opposite to pinto but the box will bolt straight on,also you already have a set of carbs so its the ign wiring and power for and a bit of plumbing.

engine mounts would have to be changed whatever.

If i change my pinto it would almost deffinatly be zetec if only for the availabillity.

Duratec does work out a few quid more as Bob says. I was going to go for a change as I've got loads of bits I could swap from the zetec. I called Dunnel who tend to tell you how it is rather than sell you stuff. They said they can sell me a 193bhp standard Duratec and would cost around £2000 to swap over after new exhaust/gearbox/sump/clutch/alternator brackets/cooling system and the cost of the engine. Or they could supply new zetec cams and head for £1k which will give more torque and 210BHP, guess which route I would go for. The good news with the zetec is that they are so cheap now (my local scrap yard want £150 for 2ltr) even if you manage to make one go bang it's not worth even dropping the sump to see what's gone, bin it and fit another. That said mine is now 70K miles old run on Ford spec oil and thrashed all the time and runs perfect.
