Pictures too big to view on my PC?
Hi all,
I'm having a little problem with my PC.
I'm not too great with computers, they don't use enough gears and mechanical parts for my liking.
I've recently got a Samsung Galaxy camera, it's great, and pictures are brilliant.
But when I load them onto my PC, instead of thumbnails I get icons, and when I double click on an icon to view the picture full size I get get a
message telling me that the file is too big to view on the Microsoft Photo Editor.
My PC runs windows XP, if that's relevant.
Any advice would be great, but please keep it simple, I'm a computer dunce.
Cheers Frank.

Camera is probably set for the highest quality picture which is a big file size and needs to be "turned down " so to speak.
I'm a more techie explanation will follow.

A couple of ideas that might help
(1) I have found the best non-techie PC program for viewing, editing, printing and emailing images is Google Picasa, it is free from Google and
although hasn't all the expert tools that pro level photo programs have it has more than enough for the beginner.
http://picasa.google.co.uk/
(2) Android Samsung Camera has a button to change the resolution of the photos it takes to a sensible size but to use it a short cut has to be
added to the camera app menu bar by dragging and dropping.
To get to the camera app settings start the camera app and tap the "Cog Wheel" icon to get the camera settings menu, the tap
"Edit Shortcuts" . The next screen should have short cuts you can drag & drop to the menu bar at the top of the camera app. The
photo resolution icon should be something like "32M" just drag & drop it into the top menu bar.
Once it is in the top menu bar you can tap it then reduce your photo resolution to a more sensible size.
Another tip is for transferring photos to and from your PC install the AirDroid app it is quicker & easier to use than the Samsung KiesAir
app.

Use a better image editor, like GIMP, to view your images.

Gimp ain't exactly user friendly for the non-techie even for a techie person using for viewing is way overkill.

Leave camera in high res and use picasa IMO. Tht way you have high res files for printing with when the time comes. Nothing worse than taking a great
photo and wanting a large print and it being too low res to print well at the size you want.
