May seem obvious

Might seem like an obvious question, but what real advantage does this have over the distributor setup??

Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.

We were traders, not sure why it has gone from our status?

The advantage is it removes points, which stops all sorts of problems, delivers a stronger spark at much more accurate timings.

Have a look here, for a dizz/nodiz comparison... 13bhp

Cheers,
Matt

If you change anything from the standard engine ie:
pistons - compression - cams etc.. also remember the curve is for a very heavy car and four people..
Your distributor ignition curve will no longer match your engine specs.
Worst case is blow up your engine - typical is low power

Hence - a programmable ignition unit which you then have mapped on a rolling road to suit your car.
Safe maximum performance from your bespoke engine and chassis. Also changeable cranking advance for easy starting on high compression & aggressive cams !!
