What is this ?? and what do I do with it?

I seem to have acquired this:

There are more pics in my archive. Does anyone know what it is? its is not a thing of beauty... at least not in my eyes!

I acquired it because it was (1) very cheap... and (2) had lots of bits on it that would be useful in my build. But someone has spent a great deal of time and money on building this, only to have to sell it in a divorce before ever putting it on the road.

So the question is ... do I sell it as is for someone to finish it? or do I break it and keep the bits that are useful to me and sell the rest?

The car is basically complete and driveable. Legally it is a bit of an unknown. The V5 says its a Vauxhall Viva and there are various features that suggest it would never have passed an IVA but it has an age related plate. It appears to have been built for racing with a catch tank and a remote operated extinguisher etc.

Spec is:

Peugeot M 16 2 litre 16V engine
Ford Type N 4 speed box
Viva Magnum front suspension
Viva Magnum rear suspension
Pace Dry sump kit
Vernier cam pulleys
Mikuni throttle bodies
Dry sump tank and catch tank
LPG conversion
Megasquirt MS1 mappable ecu
Luke 4 point harnesses
Revolution 13" alloys
Toyo Prokes R888 tyres
Brooklands aeroscreens

Any polite suggestions welcome !!

Without wishing to cause offence i think i'd break it for parts.
There's a few quid in the engine and the dry sump set-up etc

Or keep the engine etc and sell it as a rolling shell ?

Different, not the most attractive car but seems to have all the right bits and well built.

It's got an almost phaeton esque look about it.

Almost bad enough to be geeky cool these days.

If it is possible to tax and MOT I would put it on the road for a while. It will be entertaining with that engine...... As long as suspension and brakes are up to it! I bet it will grow on you. Does seller not know what it is, or was it an estranged wife who sold it for some sweet revenge?

Much as it is deffo a bit ugly
I kinda like it, I bet once sat behind those aero screens with the engine a howling, and the wind rushing through the hair, you'd soon forget what it actually looked like from the outside.

After all even the ugly girls feel the same as pretty girls in the dark! (and that was about a clean I could keep it)

I'd get the fibreglass out, replace the rear lights and remodel the front. I think it'd look a whole lot better then.

They apparently only made 50, so quite rare and this one has been 'pimped', so keep it.
I personally think it is a very nice looking retro style car.
If you want something different . . .

If your mid build then use it for the summer. You can then trt the engine and make sure your happy with it before breaking it.

I like it and I definitely wouldn't break it atm

Since it's quite a rarity I would contact Complete kit car etc and see if they want to do a feature on it - that way you get some free publicity if you decide you want to sell it.

See if there's a owners club - someone there may make you an offer.

- wouldn't be a very big club

The big grill is not really to my taste (what is it from?), but I quite like curves on the rest of the front.

The bits under the bonnet look good, so may be well engineered.

I would just be worried about the legal bits.

If the V5 says Vauxhall Viva, then it is not correctly registered (easy way to tell, Viva was much uglier) and any insurance you get will probably be worthless. Strip it of the good bits before it all gets crushed.
