To Anodise... or Not!

Seems my bike has been on the planet for nearly 8 years now and neither of the 2 previous owners has bothered to check (or been made aware of) a swingarm recall issue! I checked it on day one of ownership... and it looked to me like it needed the revised design!!!

My local (ish) dealer has confirmed it was never recalled and has received the replacement from the factory. I'm now wondering whether or not I should anodise the new one black to match the frame!? I'm probably 51/49 in favour of doing it, and could therefore do with some other opinions.

On one hand, I think that black would 'complete' the colourscheme, but on the other I think that the swingarm is too damn pretty to camouflage in dark colours and be hidden away!

So what say you... stand-out natural-silver, or satin black like the frame!?

PS - This is my bike...

The last line sums it up. Its not about the anodising, you just want to show her off again.

personally I would go with the black.

The swing arm is already anodised, so won't you need to get that stripped off and have it re-done?

Personally I wouldn't bother, it's a great looking bike anyway.

Ditto.. Also if you get it re-done I would guess the manufacture was very careful to get the correct process i.e. sea salt corrosion resistance high as well as looking good

But if you must do it I would hope it's a keeper as at a guess it will knock of some value in non-standard trim, but this may not be an issue..

Any-way what every you do make sure you like it

Original looking bike so keep it as the factory intended - silver.

i know its highly unlikely ( ) but if you do keep the bike for a long time originality might maintain its value.

Hmmm... and that, ladies and gentlemen, could be the end of the matter! I just assumed it was a natural polished ali finish!

Think I'm going to just leave it as nature intended!

I'd leave it as silver as it ties in with the rearsets, pillion pegs and subframe. I think it would make them look out of place if the swingarm was black aswell.

You'll not be able get it anodised exactly the same colour as the bike, so red wouldn't look very good IMO unless it's a paint finish.

Yes anodized it would be very pink. Get it powder coated.

My only problem with powder coating is that I know I would have to revist it at some point in the future, whereas, anodising is pretty much a fit and forget solution.

In any case, I think I'm going to leave it alone and fit some CF trims. Thanks for the input though guys!

That would look great if you get all of the bodywork wrapped. Next owner will love you for it.

Now get serious and just get the recall done and enjoy the bike. You won't have it long enough to worry about cosmetics.........

You could be right... Mrs Scootz didn't complain too loudly when I mentioned that I might treat myself to a Ducati for my 40th (next December).
