Marine ply or other sheet material?

giits
giits

As per pic my drive gate have survived with the plywood shhet for security/non-visibility
However after about 13 years (was there when we moved in) the wood has failed.
With nothing other than a varnish, which i've never re-done I assume that this would bneed to be marime ply to replace it with?
Ot is ther anopther material, ply or otherwise that would look cosmetically good and last for at least 5 years at a reasonable price?
Please dont say asbestos

I think Wickes stock an acrylic or GRP laminate sheet that can be used for skylights? I know that you can buy transparent (or near to, which doesn't solve your privacy issue), but I believe they also do opal/opaque which might suffice. It's lightweight, but won't take as much of a beating as marine ply if you bash into it....

Marine or exterior grade ply, oiled for protection. A capping strip of timber on top would finish it of and help keep water out as well.

I dont know much about it, so is exterior grade a possibility?
I like the thinking of either a cap or an upside dpwn U section plastic or metal to protect the top edge

You could use correx. Which is a fluted plastic. I'd use diabond. Its a aluminium nylon composite. Buy it from a company called Trent plastics. They deliver cut to size.

Fix a narrow platter to the bottom of each gate and grow ivy, clematis or honeysuckle. Or just zip tie some thick plastic, tarp or ground sheet.
