Sierra front uprights
Probably a question that's been asked before......
Sierra front uprights to the maxi bottom ball joint. I've not got a lot of free thread left when the nut is on. Should I be reaming out the
bottom hole in the upright and if so what reamer and where do I get one?

Yep sierra uprights have a different tapper to the maxi joints and will need reaming.
There has been lots of debate over the years about the reamer Axminster sell. Its cheap and does the job and is as close as you will get to perfect.
The purist engineers will tell you its a bodge and the fit will be down to luck not judgment.

Yes it needs reaming. I used the Axminster (19mm I think) reamer. The thread also goes through the bottom wing stay bracket, washer and nut with
enough thread showing to keep the IVA man happy (about 3 threads).

I have used the Axminster 19mm taper reamer, it works fine, grease well and keep lots of pressure on while turning.
I had to change a ball joint last week, what a PITA, a scissor type joint splitter didn't work, I had to resort to a fork joint splitter and
lump hammer. Absolutely no way they are going to work loose.

Just checked Axminster and before I order, it's the 5-19mm taper reamer we're all talking about?
